Hello and welcome to Clifton Forge!

So you've decided to roll a blood-sucking denizen of the night - dark, mysterious, decadent and alluring... Brutal, possibly cold, forever ensconced in the pale wax of your undead form... Well, you get the picture. Whatever way you want to play your vampire, whether you be as rockstar as Lestat, as erudite as Dracula, as sparkle-fuccboi as Edward Cullen, or whether you simply want to stand around counting things and cackling while thunder and lighting cracks overhead, here's some info to help you get started, my fanged friend!

Your vampire leads as of writing this are: Vivianna (arwinn resident)

Please note: These leads are OOC only. Here in Clifton Forge, we like to encourage character interaction to establish clans and lead positions. Presently there is a Prince of Clifton Forge and she can be contacted in world under the name Phoebe Bishop (lauryn.renegade). Vie for that 'throne,' we dare you!

There are certain things your vampire may intuit/gather/sense when entering town that may assist you in getting into RP here.

The Sip n' Bite Club is rumoured to be a hub for vampires and their shady practices, and it is quite possible the proprietess is in actuality a vampire, or at least working for one. The Sip n' Bite is also a location where a witch is rumoured to be available to enchant daylight rings for all your daywalking needs, so many new vampires visit the club for such trinkets, or for work and/or access to the ample feeding grounds provided by the clubs secretive nooks and crannies, but beware, you are not the only supernatural aware of this, and while you hunt others, you may find yourself hunted there as well...

The Blood Temple is an underground vampire sanctuary that is shared with the underdwelling "Collective" as an act of good-faith, and in return for a share of all quarry brought down into this Hall. Vampires are to be mindful and respectful of the area, and to use discretion when communicating about the temple or its location. Slaves, blood-dolls, meat, chattel of any kind are permitted access, but the vampire must be prepared to defend their right to said property against the claim of any other vampire. Hunters and werewolves may only be brought in if captive. All location devices and recording devices must be removed from non-vampire guests before approaching the Temple.

This Temple is always open and staffed by an assortment of surface-dwelling vampires and underdwelling vampires (the underdwellers are noticeably mutated, somewhat monstrous at times, and as decrepit as these 'bouncers' here). A dress-code is loosely enforced. The underdwelling vampires have extra limbs at times, or are missing appendages. They are always hungry for mortal blood and the blood of vampires alike.

With the exception of needing to be invited into someone's home to enter it, you may hunt wherever you choose! Please note that the Church-grounds and anywhere consecrated or that houses holy effigies may affect you, however it is up to you to what extent, whether or not you find this a minor discomfort or a complete get-off-my-lawn. Be aware that holy objects are a listed anathema for our vampires, but if you've seen as many exorcist horror movies as I have, you'll know it's generally up to the faith/convictions of the owner as to the efficacy of such. By the same token, you may find witches magicks purportedly capable of keeping you at bay, or even other spiritualities, but let your sense of fair-play dictate this, and work it out with your partner.

Some interesting questions come up for new vampire rpers as to how the lore here works. One of them is on blood types and feeding, here is some helpful stuff for you:

The Taste of Blood

- Humans - a staple of vampire diets. rich in all nutrients needed to keep vampires alive and thriving. A human's blood can be influenced by many things such as diet, physical health, age, intoxication or the influence of drugs, and so on. Some even say that the base moral alignment and temperament of a human - wicked or pure, crass, bold, fearful etc - flavours their blood. Many vampires describe the taste of the same type of blood differently and prefer certain types of human victims over others, proving that human blood can speak to completely different palates in different ways. If enough blood is consumed or the human life is taken, the vampire can at times obtain flashbacks, memories, or even temporary skill sets/talents/abilities from the human. The taking of a life leaves an indelible impression, even a duality of the humans life experiences; memories, sensations, bad habits, intertwined with the vampires own, and talents and skills may become long-lasting, though this is not always certain. If the human possesses psychic abilities of any kind, the vampire may catch glimpses of the unknown through their vicarious โ€˜third eye.โ€™

- Witches - sweet and almost intoxicating. whatever magic is running through witches veins flavors their blood with an earthy, almost wine-like quality but also overpowers any psychic impressions a vampire might obtain in any ordinary human. What the vampire feeds on is raw power, and as such it can be incredibly energising and rejuvenating, but as far as it is known, magic must be wielded by the living. An enterprising vampire might seek to experimentโ€ฆ meanwhile The older or more powerful the witch, the more intense the taste.

- Lycans - very nutty, bitter, and unpleasant. like the extract of vanilla taken raw and undiluted. The inner beast that all lycans must strive over years to master, undiluted, is too powerful for most vampires and will drive a careless vampire to temporary madness and an indiscriminate lust for violence. In extreme cases, draining a Lycan is rumoured to turn the most seasoned vampire permanently insane.

Now good luck, and happy vamping, and don't forget to forward any questions to staff members <3
